For many people who love Studio Ghibli, My Neighbor Totoro seems to be the favorite. I received a request from a friend after I had made a Totoro teapot cozy for myself asking if I could make her one. As it turns out I tend to have a hard time turning people down and well it's Totoro so why not. There was only one problem I have been so busy with other projects that I never seemed to have the time nor the inspiration to make the cozy. Keep in mind she brought over her tea pot sometime last year so I have been holding onto it for a while.

Just made my own sponges, these are great for many reasons. But my favorite reasons are they match my color scheme, and they are machine washable. On the soft side I have a textured crochet stitch to help get more gunk and grim off each dish. For the tougher jobs there is the rippled scrubby side made out of tulle (only for use on none scoring surfaces). Is love in the air? Not sure but at least it looks a little more like it in our house. Since I have a thing for holidays I decided to work on some placemats. I honestly don't know why I suddenly want all these placemats, maybe it's the festive charm it adds, who knows? Now back to the details of this pattern, the finished size should be about 18" wide x 13" height. I did use two different patterns and piece them together to create these heartful placemats, hope you like them! Crochet cable slouchy with a pom pom, this hat has a couple first for me. To get started check out the inspiration at this awesome blog "String With Style" there are some really cute patterns on there. There is also a free pattern for cable leg warmers which I am going to make as well so watch for that finished project post hopefully in the next month or so before we run out of snow here. Speaking of snow we finally got a decent storm that brought in almost 28" another reason for wanting a new hat and leg warmers. :) Being Christmas time and living in a snowy place gave me the idea to make snowman placemats. My original design was harder than I could accomplish with a short time span. I have plans to add the hat portion before next year but since I got sick with a chest cold I wasn't able to finish them this year. So check back and see if they ever get their hats. In the spirit of Halloween I decided to make a new toy for Saphira or more so reinvent an old one. I bought a few racket balls for Saphira since I figured she would like playing with them and they don't seem to hit as hard as a tennis ball when thrown at the walls. Well she hated them, I'm not completely sure why except it's probably the taste of the rubber. After looking at patterns one day I found a really cute bat. I used the pattern as a basis since the original ends up being much larger. I have included a PDF pattern of the wings and tail, the body and ears can be found on the original pattern's link. |
