Even loaded with all my hooks, scissors, stitch markers, and needles it still rolls up to a fairly small burrito like shape. The faux bow hides the velcro closure under one of the loops. I did want to do an outside pocket, but I felt like I was getting a head of myself of what I can do without help from the master seamstress that is my Mom.
I included a top flap to protect the hooks themselves, it also keeps things nice and neat when rolled. I really need to protect the thread hooks, being as delicate as they are so the top flap is a must.
Here is my hidden pocket, I was able to sew this thank's to this awesome tutorial here. I struggle when it comes to zippers so when I found the tutorial I was really excited that even I could make a nice looking zipper pouch. The pouch itself is large enough to hold a small pair of Craft Smart scissors, a pencil lead case filled with tapestry needles, and a round container about the size of a half dollar coin. So fairly roomy for such a small pocket and very handy.
This is the case all rolled out I have a set of Clover hooks sizes B thru J, one sub space for a larger hook like a N depending on the project that I am working on. I have a set of six thread hooks that are a lot nicer than the basic steel hooks but are not as comfortable as my Clover set. I did get them for a steal of a price though since I was able to order them individually.
The down side with all these hooks is my case rolls out to be really long. So I am going to revisit this project and make another hook case. Next time I am going to try to make one that has two row for hooks instead of the one so it can be half this length and maybe a more advance zipper pocket. I was thinking of trying one of those kinds that unzip around leaving one side without a zipper so I can make divided sections for my scissors, stitch markers and needles. That or I will have separate zipper pockets instead maybe one with a window view for the stitch markers.
Check back again to see if I have attempted my second case!
