Here we have part two of the Spooky Friends with a party of cozies. The same lineup as the Halloween wreath and all the scary fun and trouble when they are separated. These drink cozies are great for parties to help identify everyone's drinks. Use the inspiration found here to add a few more characters to the lineup for even more spooky friends..

Halloween is less than a month away and I have already started the decorating process. Like a friend of mine said if they are already selling Halloween stuff in July/August, then it's fair game to start decorating. This project is pretty easy since its mainly chaining. Please note that the lacing is stiff and can cause irritation to your hands while crocheting. I did have to take breaks in between or used band-aids to stop the wear on my skin since I weave my yarn/lacing through my left hand to keep tension and even stitches. But it was an easy price to pay for a cool Halloween decoration. I have provided a free PDF pattern at the bottom of this post. Enjoy! This is part one of my spooky friends line up, and I am kicking it off with my Spooky Friend Halloween Wreath. This project originally started as cup cozies and only as Frankenstein and the Jack-O-Lantern but as you can see inspiration struck and the project just simply grew. By the time I finished making all the cozy bases I then decided I need to make a matching table runner and so on. This small little project became a big project as you can seeing. I am super excited today, after having so much fun cleaning (not!) to find out that my new crochet hooks finally arrived in the mail. What a great pick me up, right? I have been using Boye and Susan Bates hooks since I first learned to crochet. I think my grandmother would have been so happy to know that I still crochet for one but have taken it to the level of being one of my favorite hobbies. Hmm...covered ear buds...It got me thinking and I decided that I wanted to give it a try. I saw a version that was done using a friendship bracelet technique, and after reading the post I decided it was way too much work doing it that way. So I decided to try a single crochet stitch for the whole thing. I found such a cute pattern in the free section of Joann's years ago and finally had to make it. Being such a fan of crocheting I decided to make two. I made one like the original which was cute but really didn't give me any kind of light bulb moment, until I thought of a friend who had a baby not too long ago (who loves the monster's theme). So what better way to spin of the original design using characters from Monster's, Inc. and who doesn't love the idea of the sandworm from Beetlejuice as the post and base. |
