This is a mini version of the Night Fury toy I made recently, with a couple of modifications. Since this is supposed to be a child's toy I added a rattle placed in the head, included arms and wings. The blanket is a modified plain square pattern with a textured border.

In the spirit of Halloween I decided to make a new toy for Saphira or more so reinvent an old one. I bought a few racket balls for Saphira since I figured she would like playing with them and they don't seem to hit as hard as a tennis ball when thrown at the walls. Well she hated them, I'm not completely sure why except it's probably the taste of the rubber. After looking at patterns one day I found a really cute bat. I used the pattern as a basis since the original ends up being much larger. I have included a PDF pattern of the wings and tail, the body and ears can be found on the original pattern's link. I found such a cute pattern in the free section of Joann's years ago and finally had to make it. Being such a fan of crocheting I decided to make two. I made one like the original which was cute but really didn't give me any kind of light bulb moment, until I thought of a friend who had a baby not too long ago (who loves the monster's theme). So what better way to spin of the original design using characters from Monster's, Inc. and who doesn't love the idea of the sandworm from Beetlejuice as the post and base. |
