I found such a cute pattern in the free section of Joann's years ago and finally had to make it. Being such a fan of crocheting I decided to make two.
I made one like the original which was cute but really didn't give me any kind of light bulb moment, until I thought of a friend who had a baby not too long ago (who loves the monster's theme).
So what better way to spin of the original design using characters from Monster's, Inc. and who doesn't love the idea of the sandworm from Beetlejuice as the post and base.

As far as the pattern goes there are a few blips to watch out for:
One of the issues on the pattern is the height of the post, I found it to be too tall for the rings and seemed kind of off. That being said my recommendation is put the ring on the post before you tie off to make sure you like the height, I believe I dropped around seven or eight row on this one and about six on the original pattern. *Note this will vary depending on the type of yarn used*
Secondly there were some corrections made to the pattern but were not revised in the published version. They are noted on the website page before you download or print the pattern.
