Like most pet owners you want your pet to be comfortable and what happens when your pup's dog beds are just plain worn out? You would typically throw them away right? Well don't do that if you happen to know a little bit about sewing and have some extra material lying around. Use all that lovely batting to make a new bed. Also this gives a great way to customize their bed to match your style. So lets get started and find a new purpose for those old dog beds or pillows.
Materials needed:
Yard Stick (or measuring tape)
Scissors
Pins
Spool of thread + Bobbin
Batting/Stuffing
1 yard 60" width material
3 1/2 yards 45" width material (2 1/4 yards one color, and 1 1/4 yards contrasting color)
Cup or Round lid or Pen (to mark)
First we are going to make the inside pillow for the bed. Now the main reason for doing this is for easier cleaning and additional support. We are going to make a pillow that is roughly 30" x 36" prior to stuffing, follow slideshow steps: 1-3.
After you've finished step 3 you will be about a quarter of the way done. Set the pillow aside to start working on the slip cover of the bed. This cover has a fair amount of steps since I added a pillow edge as well.

So this project took me about five to six hours give or take your sewing skills. I am still a noob at sewing so it probably take me much longer then most. Also if I didn't list a seam size it will probably be 3/8" that's what I tend to use for most free hand work. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and if you have any question or need clarification please feel free to drop me a comment or message.
